As our country grapples with the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic, New York City public schools are stopping at nothing to create an education that puts your children’s health, safety, and emotional well-being first. An education that creates a new standard of excellence for blended and fully remote learning. An education that will prepare your children to thrive—today, tomorrow, next year, and for the rest of their lives.
A new way to learn from home
The NYC Department of Education (DOE) and Wide Open School (WOS) share a belief that online learning resources are an essential component of student learning in the modern classroom and complement teacher instruction. Online resources also support educational equity, which is critical to transforming the lives of all students, especially those with disabilities and who are multilingual learners. This exciting DOE and WOS partnership provides a distance learning site where families and students may access a variety of high-quality, academic enrichment and support resources.

The 2020–21 Family Guide provides some information on what that teaching and learning will look like this school year. You will find universal expectations for how our schools will support every single student every single school day—whether they are participating in fully remote or blended learning.
Track your child’s education on any computer, phone, or tablet.
The NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is an app that lets you see your student’s grades, attendance, fitness results, schedule, and more from anywhere and in all DOE languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) helps develop educational policies for their school. The SLT also:
* Provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs
* Play an important role in school-based decision-making
* Help to make school cultures more collaborative
